Beware when comparing prices! Lesson prices will vary slightly from one instructor to another. However, beware of unbelievably low introductory offers from multi car driving schools. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is! Don't accept a discounted 2 hour 'controls' lesson, where the lesson consists of sitting at the side of the road with the instructor explaining every intricate detail of how a car works! I always aim to have my new novice drivers driving within half an hour of getting in to the car, and stationary instruction at the side of the road is kept to the minimum. Driving is a practical skill, and can only be achieved with sufficient practice. Also low introductory prices, are usually followed up by much higher hourly rates, or un-necessary 2 hour lessons. 2 hour lessons may only be necessary for familiarisation with the town where the test will be taken. Driving Schools who carry out this sort of practice very rarely get recommendations, so have to resort to lower pricing and heavy advertising campaigns.
